Tuna pasta salad is a favorite for the ease of preparation and for the flavor, always guaranteed to please anyone.
Ingredients for 4 people:
- 8 ounces farfalle
- 6 ounces of tuna in olive oil
- 6 ounces tomatoes cut in cubes
- 1/2 ounce lemon juice
- 1/4 red onion thinly sliced
- 4 tablespoon black pitted olives sliced
- 6 ounces mozzarella (ciliegine or diced)
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano
- 12 basil leaves
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- salt and pepper
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl, without the pasta, crumbling the tuna drained from its oil.
Run quickly the cooked pasta under cold water. Drain well and add to the bowl.
Mix well tearing basil leaves by hand and combine all ingredients.
Let it rest for half an hour to blend flavors. Mix again at time of serving.
Note: make sure you have enough oil in the pasta salad so the dish doesn’t result too dry. Extra virgin olive oil best especially when used raw. You can use hot pepper too. Fresh mozzarella best.
