Total time: 25 minutes

Pasta tonno e piselli  enriched with tomato is a healthy and delightful combination and it’s easy to make.


Ingredients for 4 people:

  • 1 pound long pasta
  • 4 tablespoons oil
  • 1 onion chopped fine
  • hot red pepper as you like
  • 1 cup frozen peas (or fresh)
  • 1 small can tuna in olive oil
  • 6 tomatoes San Marzano or can chopped
  • salt



In a large deep pan, on moderate heat put oil and cook onion till tender, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat or even take pan away from heatmomentarily (so to avoid splashing) and add frozen peas with some broth or water and cook for about 5 minutes.

Stir in tuna and crumble it. After a minute or so, add tomatoes with their juice. If mixture too dense, add some water. Cook for about 10 minutes more.

Toss cooked pasta in pan and mix well. Turn off heat and serve.


Note: Use any long pasta like spaghetti, tagliatelle and fettuccine. Frozen peas are better than canned ones. Sauce can wait, pasta cannot. So have sauce ready by the time pasta is done.
